Nurturing New Roots: Migration Narratives and the Power of Community Care – GEZUMI Event in Berlin

August 17, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us on Thursday the 17th of August for a Panel Discussion and Q&A exploring topics of mental health, migration, and community care, followed by a live music performance by @badsasha.official

Four panelists will share their experiences of migration to Berlin from the Middle East, East Africa, Europe, and North America, reflecting on their perspectives on self-care and building community in a new place.

Hailing from Ukraine, artist Bad Sasha will bring her lilting, light, and soulful vocals to close the night. Her original, explorative compositions, will be accompanied by Akim Grui on the keyboard.

Hudara brings this event to the Kiez in the spirit of gathering people together to share, listen, and allow space for stories of migration, and reflect on a collective experience of healing and caring.

This event is organized in connection with our project GEZUMI (Unsere GEsellschaft als ZUhause für Menschen mit MIgrationshintergrund), a network of moderated peer support groups for people with migration backgrounds in Berlin, Frankfurt (Oder), and Halle (Saale). These support groups provide a safe, inclusive, and collaborative space for people who have experienced migration or displacement.

The event is free & for everybody. Come along to hear stories of migration and the power of community, and to find a space where you can share your own story too. All are welcome.
