Hello,
We are delighted to share our newsletter with you. In this issue, we report on our practical project work in Iraq (Voices from the field). In the following essay, you can learn about energy poverty and why we are committed to renewable energy (Puzzling pieces together). This is followed by insights into events we have carried out (Happenings) and an introduction to our team (Get to know us!).
We are happy that you have signed up for our newsletter and are part of our community.
We hope you enjoy reading it and send our warm wishes to you,

On mental health support for young people in Iraq
There is still much to be done in Iraq after war and violence. Hudara asked the director of our partner organisation in a project for psychological support of young people for a personal assessment.

Puzzling pieces together
Energy Poverty and why access to renewable energy is necessary for sustainable development
Energy poverty and the struggle against it is universal and extensive. However, despite the foundation that clean energy provides for communities to realise their potential and function in a holistic and socially inclusive way, it has not yet found its way into research, development and policy agendas as we believe it should.
Happenings
A glimpse into our events
In the last few months Hudara has held several events, including a film night and an online discussion.

Get to know us!
We have came together as people with different backgrounds and interests, but are driven by a common desire for an inclusive, sustainable, just and interconnected world community. Sometimes we are asked what “Hudara” means. There is no literal translation, but in the beginning there were two Arabic words, حضارة / hadara / civilisation / culture and حضور / hudor / presence / participation. Hudara was created to express the emphasis on cultural sensitivity, dialogue and understanding, community and connection between a variety of people, initiatives and actions.
We are convinced that each and every one of us shapes the meaning of this word through our daily actions.
We support mental health and peaceful community life, adaptation to climate change, clean energy and mitigation of climate change, and social justice. Traditionally, development cooperation activities have always been about power, knowledge and negotiation processes between different actors. We see recognition and appreciation of different perspectives, participation, co-determination and assumption of responsibility by all those involved in this process as the only way to achieve just and sustainable development. Our aim is to decentralise debate and action by focusing on voices, feelings and efforts and from all sides, and to try to strengthen horizontal lines of communication and genuine cooperation in all our projects.ers…
